Time for the Smartwatch

A smartwatch can be defined as a timepiece or a watch whose qualities surpass those of a simple watch and they tend to go beyond simple time keeping functionalities. While the earliest smartwatches had the ability to double up as remote controls, calculators, gaming devices and translators, the modern version of the smartwatch has the ability to practically carry out the functions of a computer. It was after 2013 that smartwatches truly boomed as an innovative and unique novelty. Modern smartwatches can operate through mobile operating systems. Many smartwatches have the ability to run mobile applications and act as mp3 players. Some smartwatches have the capabilities of a mobile phone and can answer and dial up calls
.

Some smart watches can also work as sports watches or fitness/activity trackers where the data of a workout is usually recorded and then can be uploaded in logs or records being kept in a computer. These watches are usually made for outdoor sports, specifically training and diving. Utilities can comprise of exercise programs, cadence sensor compatibility, heart rate monitor, dive computer, Route tracking, GPS units, speed records, lap times, and compatibility with triathlons.

Smartwatches also have the ability to collect information regarding any and every topic from both internal and external sources and is able to control or export data from other computers and/or devices (through the use of Bluetooth). Smartwatches, in the modern times, have the ability to support Wi-Fi, GPS and other wireless services.

The future of the smartwatch has been vastly discussed and dwelled upon by industry experts, as well as smartwatch makers. Many people believe that smartwatches have the chance to enter the mainstream market as computer technology strives to become more and more portable and concise. Many experts say that the future smartwatches will be larger and bigger in size when compared to a normal watch. The major issue that producers are looking to combat is the battery life of smartwatches is vastly insufficient at this stage. It is also being anticipated that research in the smartwatch arena will lead to a huge improvement in display technologies in all sectors.  Experts say that the future of smartwatches remains unclear at this point.
